Boy set ablaze by his brothers dies

A 14-year old boy in Mandera who was allegedly set ablaze by his brothers has succumbed to burn injuries.


According to the DCI, the class seven pupil at Kamor Primary School in Mandera, was yesterday ensnared to their house by his brothers Ibrahim Ahmed and Yusuf Ahmed.


They rolled him up in a mattress doused in petrol and set him on fire. He had been accused of being a witness in a case that his brother Ibrahim Ahmed, was accused of stealing a mobile phone.


After setting him ablaze, the two brothers immediately went into hiding leaving their little brother for dead. Police officers rushed to the scene, rescued him and rushed him to Mandera County Referral Hospital, where he was admitted in serious condition.


He bravely fought for his life but as the clock neared 2am today, he lost the battle.


The two brothers, Ibrahim, 20 and Yusuf, 17 have been arrested by detectives. They are currently being held at Mandera Police station as they await their arraignment in court.
