Turkana University students elect new body officials

Mr. Ekai Nabenyo, a University
of Nairobi law student, is the new
Chairperson of Turkana County
University Students Association
(TUCUSA) following a hotly
contested election held in Lodwar
Youth Polytechnic last month.
Mr. Nabenyo, garnered 196
votes against his rival, Charles
Ekeno from University of Nairobi,
who got 117 votes. Steven Ekidor
of Moi University came third with
111 votes.

At least 500 Turkana students
from various higher learning
institutions participated in the
December 29 election, which
attracted about 20 candidates for
the seven vacant positions.
Security was beefed up during
the all day election and votes
counting, which ended at 8pm. Mr.
Augustine Logiron, the Patron,
Turkana County University
Students Association (TUCUSA),
announced the results and thanked
the students for holding a peace-
ful, free and fair election.
Others elected are; Ms. Damaris
Lokoroi who becomes the vice-
chairperson and Mr. Linus
Loreng, the Secretary General.
Mr. Nicholas Atok becomes the
Deputy Secretary General, Ms.
Prisca Lokwang, the Treasurer
and Mr. Tony Lokinei, the orga-
nizing secretary while the deputy
organizing secretary post went to
Mr. Ebongon Lomongin.
