The pokot community of Amudat
district and Sabiny community of
Kween and Bukwo districts have
agreed to live in harmony after
decades of conflicts characterized
by cattle rustling.
The two communities resolved to
live together peacefully recently at
the peace dialogue supported by
ZOA International NGO based in
Amudat district.
The elders and the youth from
both communities committed to liv-
ing in harmony. “We have ended
hostilities and we are ready to stay
in harmony and graze our animals
together”, said Joseph Cherop an
elder from Bukwo.
Mr. Cherop said the hostility
among the two neighbouring com-
munities had caused loss of lives as
a result of cattle conflicts.
“This is the dialogue that we had
been longing for so long so that we
the two communities can expose our
annoyance and forget about it and
start living together,” said Lopon
